Practicing Gratitude, Simplicity, Science and Service
Bethel Roots & Shoots is an environmental stewardship club for all ages. One of our primary goals is to enjoy being outdoors in all kinds of weather. We do all sorts of activities and projects, including the following:
Participate in the Methodist Church’s Green Church Initiative
Monarch Waystation
Amphibian Education
Nature Crafts Projects
Community Roadside Cleanup
Stream Water Testing
Vegetable Gardening
Walking for Water
Habitat Restoration
Precipitation Appreciation
Training a Service Dog
Field trips:
Exploring Vernal pools
Visiting Local vegetable farms
Taking Hikes
The club welcomes all children desiring a deeper relationship with nature, regardless of faith tradition.
Our after-school program is open to elementary aged children and meets at Bethel UMC on Wednesday afternoons. Young children meet every fourth Sunday during Children’s Church while their parents are in the worship service. Our teen club meets once a month to plan special activities.
Bethel Church’s Roots & Shoots is affiliated with Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots program http://www.rootsandshoots.org/ with clubs all over the world. Roots & Shoots clubs work to promote care and concern for the environment, animals, and the human community.
